Graham Watson, BEM – SGF President & Owner Watson’s Licenced Grocers

Graham joined the Royal Navy in February 1987 and spent the next 14 years of his life in various bases throughout the UK and the world. He was seconded to the Royal Marines for a year in the late 80s but ultimately became a Submariner and served on three different Boats from 1990 – 2001 including HMS Vanguard. In April 2001 he left the Royal Navy as a Petty Officer and with little or no experience he bought the Grocers shop in Moniaive, which is in rural Southwest Scotland. Basically, he has been there ever since in one form or another serving the community and all who visit. Over the intervening years he moved to a larger site and has tried to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to retailing in a rural area. He has been lucky enough to have won some major awards over the last 5 years or so and is always trying to improve the service he provides and keep on learning.
