MEETING MOVED ONLINE ONLY: Environmental Regulation Compliance (inc. disposable vape ban update) meeting - SGF roundtable meeting – 16th September, 6pm

The planned in-person meeting of the CPG at the Scottish Parliament will no longer take place. Instead, a meeting will be held online via Microsoft Teams on Tuesday 16th September at 6pm. Due to circumstances out with our control, an in-person meeting at the Scottish Parliament is no longer possible.

Topic: Environmental Regulation Compliance (inc. DRS, EPR, WEEE & disposable vape ban update)

Due to a change to the Parliamentary Business, a Stage 3 debate will now take place on the evening of the CPG and MSPs will be required to attend. Therefore, we have been informed that we cannot hold this meeting at the Scottish Parliament. We apologise for this change in circumstances. Given that we had to postpone the previous meeting in June for the same reason, we have made the decision to continue with an online SGF roundtable meeting instead. There are no changes to the speakers or presentations.

MSP’s may or may not be able to attend this meeting for a short time, but we offered the opportunity for them to join.

The meeting will focus on environmental regulations currently impacting the Scottish convenience sector, with discussion on retailers’ responsibilities across four key environmental policies. The topics and speakers are:

  • Single-use vape ban – Christopher Bell, The Society of Chief Officers of Trading Standards (SCOTSS)

  • Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment regulations (WEEE) – Nigel Tomlinson, Gap-Group UK

  • Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) – Ross Cowie, SEPA

  • Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) – Jonathan Kemp, UK DMO

Following the presentations, there will be an opportunity for a Q&A session with our speakers.

We would greatly value your participation in what promises to be an important and timely discussion.
