HFSS support for Scotland

The Food and Drink Federation Scotland (FDF Scotland) would like to share the following information about their upcoming HFSS regulations webinar and funding support for food and drink manufacturers to help prepare for the regulations.

FDF Scotland’s Reformulation for Health programme is working to support Scotland’s food and drink manufacturing sector prepare for the implementation and impact of the upcoming HFSS regulations coming into force on the 1st of October 2026.  It can be confusing navigating the various acronyms and terminology to decipher what is relevant to you. The webinar below will help clarify the regulations, while the funding will assist with the associated costs of improving the health of your products.

With less than 6 months to go until the 1st of October 2026 implementation date it is essential that Scotland's retail supply chain is ready for the impact of the HFSS regulations.

Funding Support

FDF Scotland’s Reformulation for Health Programme has launched a new grant fund of up to £5,000 to help SME food and drink manufacturers make products healthier and prepare for the Food (Promotion and Placement) (Scotland) Regulations 2025, which come into force on 1 October 2026. Under the Regulations, products classified as High in Fat, Sugar or Salt (HFSS) will face restrictions on location‑based promotions, multibuy offers, and some seasonal and provenance promotions.

The funding can be used to support reformulation costs – including trial ingredients, specialist advice, nutritional software or laboratory analysis – and can be accessed alongside the programme’s free technical support. Applications close on 31 May 2026.
