Don’t Let Local Shops Be Shut Out – SGF urges retailers to share their views on Tobacco and Vapes consultation
It is Important that SGF retailers respond to the UK Government’s Tobacco and Vapes: Packaging, Appearance and Display consultation, as the proposals could have significant consequences for convenience stores. A display ban could require vaping and nicotine products to be kept behind shutters, bringing additional costs, operational challenges and potentially driving customers towards the illicit market. SGF is also concerned that the proposed implementation timelines are unworkable, giving retailers insufficient time to plan, finance and install necessary changes. Retailers should respond to ensure these practical impacts are fully understood by government.
You can respond to the consultation here before the deadline of 2nd October 2026: Tobacco and vapes: packaging, appearance and display - GOV.UK
SGF is also running a very short survey on the Tobacco and Vapes consultation, which we would be grateful if you could respond to: SGF Survey - Tobacco and vapes: packaging, appearance and display (anonymous)
