Guidance on calculating the minimum wage, to help employers meet National Minimum Wage legislation.

The National Minimum Wage (NMW) Promoting Compliance Team have shared the information below with us. They support employers, workers and stakeholders with guidance and information to ensure NMW entitlement is paid correctly.

NMW is more than just a pay rate and is easy for employers to make mistakes. Even if the correct rate is paid there are many things that can bring pay below minimum wage.

They have guidance, which provides practical advice and examples to explain:

  • what counts and does not count as pay and working hours for minimum wage purposes

  • eligibility for the minimum wage

  • how to calculate the minimum wage

  • how we will enforce the minimum wage

It also applies to workers entitled to the National Living Wage.
